The joint webinar “Digital Innovation for Soil Health” in the framework of four European projects WHEATWATCHER, STELLA, NitroScope, and E-SPFdigit<\/strong>, is scheduled to take place on 3rd of June 2026, via\u00a0Zoom, from\u00a010:00 to 11:30 CET.<\/strong><\/p>

The webinar will bring together experts, project partners, farmers, agronomists, policymakers, and other stakeholders to explore how digital innovations can support healthier soils and more sustainable, data-driven agriculture.<\/p>

Meet our distinguished speakers, who will share their expertise, experiences, and insights on digital innovation for soil health:<\/p>

Rita Barros Silva <\/strong><\/h6>
Leader of Wor<\/span>k package WP1- E-SPFdigit framework design specifications & requirements under social inclusion – <\/span>APEMETA<\/span><\/h6>

Since 2016, she has been part of the team at APEMETA \u2013 the Portuguese Association of Environmental Technology Companies, where she contributes to stakeholder engagement and multi-actor interaction in the environmental sector, alongside the preparation and implementation of national and European projects. Her work includes initiatives dedicated to sustainable agriculture, environmental innovation and technology transfer, such as E-SPFdigit and PestNu. She holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Instituto Superior T\u00e9cnico, specialising in waste management.<\/p>

Antonios Morellos\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>
Scientific coordinator WHEATWATCHER project-<\/span>University of Ghent<\/span><\/span><\/h6>

Antonios Morellos holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is currently a postdoc researcher in the Precision Scoring group at Ghent University, working on the WHEATWATCHER H2020 project, alongside prof. Abdul Mouazen. His fields of interest include smart agriculture, artificial intelligence, IoT sensors, proximal and remote sensing, crop and soil monitoring.<\/span><\/p>

Muhammad Qaswar<\/strong><\/h6>
Postdoctoral Researcher & <\/span><\/strong>\"\"Scientific coordinator NitroScope project<\/span><\/h6>

Muhammad Qaswar is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Precision Scoring (PRESCO) research group at Ghent University, Belgium (since 2021), and Scientific Project Manager of the Horizon Europe NitroScope project. His research focuses on precision nutrient management using digital agriculture, multi-sensor systems, and machine learning to improve soil health and sustainability. He holds a PhD in Soil Science.<\/span><\/p>

Christina Markou\u00a0<\/strong><\/h6>
Leader of Work package WP: STELLA Platform- <\/span>Agricultural university of athens<\/h6>
\"\"<\/span><\/h6>

Christina\u2019s expertise comes from her background in her studies at the Agricultural University of Athens, further specialising in Agricultural Machinery and Precision Agriculture. Through summer schools, seminars and her work experience as a researcher under the Lab of Agricultural Machinery and her active involvement in EU Horizon projects and their proposals she has gained experience in remote sensing technologies and their applications. From UAVs and generating vegetation indices to collecting weather station data she has experienced first-hand how these technologies can help both the farmer and the environment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
