EU Green Week | Digital Innovations for Soil Health: Investing in Nature through Sustainable Farming Technologies

Four European Horizon Europe projects, WHEATWATCHER, STELLA, NitroScope, and E-SPFdigit, are joining forces for a webinar on investing in nature through sustainable farming technologies in Europe.

The webinar will take place on 3 June 2026, via Zoom, from 10:00 to 11:30 CET.

The event takes place in the framework of EU Green Week 2026, Europe’s leading annual environmental conference, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment. This year’s theme, “Investing in a nature-positive economy,” highlights how nature-positive solutions can support Europe’s prosperity, resilience, and competitiveness, with a focus on areas including profitable farming and soil health.

The webinar will bring together experts, project partners, farmers, agronomists, policymakers, and other stakeholders to explore how digital innovations can support healthier soils and more sustainable, data-driven agriculture.

Participants will hear insights from the four projects, focusing on proximal soil sensing, fertility zone mapping in wheat fields, stakeholder perspectives on soil health, high-resolution multi-sensor soil monitoring, and the role of digital platforms in sustainable agriculture.

The session will conclude with a Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to discuss the technologies presented, field insights, and their potential impact on future farming practices.

The projects in a glance:

STELLA – Develops a digital system for early detection and warning of regulated pests using modern sensing technologies and AI.

WHEATWATCHER – Creates a digital soil monitoring system to support sustainable wheat production under climate and environmental pressures.

NITROSCOPE – Establishes one of Europe’s most extensive and integrated nitrogen monitoring networks.

E-SPFdigit – Deploys and tests onsite digital tools for soil and plant health in viticulture and horticulture, including vineyards and open-field vegetable crops.
